It's Christmas Time on The Oaks Course for Everyone!

Animals at The Oaks Course get ready for Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner and the animals at The Oaks Course have been very busy! The Oaks Course is home to a lot of animals, but we happened to make friends with five friendly animals this year! Our favorite furry friends, Sunshine the killdeer and her babies Shotgun and Sandy, along with Dino our resident snapping turtle and Coco the largest catfish around, are busily getting ready for the holiday season.

Shotgun and Sandy, Sunshine’s fluffy twins, are celebrating Christmas for the very first time and are so excited to be celebrating it at The Oaks Course! Although they were born in the summer and not quite chicks anymore, they will always be The Oaks Course killdeer chicks to us!

To get ready for Christmas, the little killdeer family of three can be seen from time to time gathering new sticks and leaves for their nests. Sunshine, Shotgun and Sandy are the fastest killdeer we have ever seen and we enjoy watching them scamper around the course to find new things for their nests. Come watch them with us, you will love it!

We have also seen Shotgun and Sandy dashing around the course looking for food; we are assuming they are looking for yummy worms for their Christmas dinner. Sunshine should be a proud momma bird! If you are looking for a little excitement this holiday season, head over to The Oaks Course for a few rounds of golf. You may just run into Sunshine, Shotgun and Sandy! 

Sign Up for the Christmas Tournament and help the Miracle League

This Saturday, December 13th, The Oaks Course will be holding its annual Christmas Tournament. The Christmas Tournament is the last tournament of the year at The Oaks Course and is a great opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family! Not only is it a unique golf tournament, The Oaks Course will donate the proceeds to a very special cause that is close to home.

For the past four years, The Oaks Course has donated the proceeds from the tournament to The Miracle League. The Miracle League is a park full of baseball fields and other recreational equipment that will be accessible to every child. This is a worthy cause that will help all children get the chance to be kids.

The Miracle League complex will feature wheelchair accessible dugouts, a custom designed baseball field with a softened surface to help prevent injuries, and a completely flat surface. Accessible restrooms, a picnic pavilion, and a concession stand will also be available.

The Miracle League complex is being built at the City Pond Park in Covington and is expected to open in April of 2015. The Christmas Tournament at The Oaks Course is the perfect opportunity to help give back to your community while having a great time with your friends and family. The Oaks Course has limited room for this tournament so be sure to sign up! As the Miracle League says “every child deserves the chance to play baseball,” and you can help make that happen. 

Only 4 Days Until the Christmas Tournament at The Oaks!

There are only four days between today and the exciting Christmas Tournament held at The Oaks Course! The Oaks Course has been home to the Christmas Tournament for several years and each year the tournament just becomes more fun! The Christmas Tournament is a chance for you to have fun with friends and family while playing a very unique round of golf for a great cause.

The Christmas Tournament held at The Oaks Course could best be described as the most interesting golf tournament you will ever play. This tournament does not require normal golf skills. For example, if you use a right-handed club, you could be asked to use a left-handed club for a round! Other silly challenges you may see are playing a hole backwards and even having to wear DUI goggles while trying to hit the ball!

This tournament may sound silly, but it’s a great opportunity to have fun with your friends and family during the holiday season. Not to mention, funds raised from the tournament will be donated to the Miracle League. The miracle league is in Covington and is a baseball field for children with handicaps. The field will be finished in April of 2015 and the funds raised from this tournament will help to finish this wonderful project!

The Oaks Course has room for 26 teams and many have already signed up. Be sure to sign up soon! The Christmas Tournament will be the most fun you’ve had this year and it’s all for a great cause. 

Karens Corner- The Christmas Tournament at The Oaks!

The annual Christmas Tournament will be held on Saturday, December 13th this year at The Oaks Course in Covington, Georgia. The Oaks Course has been hosting this silly tournament for several years now and it is always a hit! The Christmas Tournament is open to sponsor teams and has room for 26 teams this year. 16 teams have already signed up, so be sure to hurry! You won’t want to the miss all the fun.

The Christmas Tournament at The Oaks Course is considered to be “the most unusual tournament ever,” which is what makes it so fun! Every hole on the course will be different and requires a different skill. One of the holes, for example, requires you to use a left-handed golf club if you are usually right handed. Not only will it be a challenge, it will be a ton of fun!

The unique Christmas Tournament at The Oaks Course goes to a great cause. The tournament raises money for the miracle field in Covington. The miracle field in Covington is a community project that was started six years ago and is on track to be finished April 2015. The field is designed for children with handicaps. The miracle field will also be surrounded by a recreational facility for any child that plays baseball.

The Christmas Tournament at The Oaks is one of the most exciting tournaments of the year and goes to a great cause! Be sure to sign your team up as soon as possible!
