Karens Corner- The Benefits of Golfing

Many people visit The Oaks golf course after a stressful work week. Golf is not only relaxing; it’s also very beneficial. I recently spoke with David The Oaks superintendent about the major benefits of golfing.

David said a major benefit of golfing is exercise. If you play golf regularly it can help you to stay fit, improve endurance, and lose weight! Golfing gets you outside and walking around. Even the smallest bit of exercise helps! If you hate going to the gym you should try visiting the golf course.

Another benefit David mentioned is that golf is a social sport.  If you find yourself only socializing at work, the golf course might be your solution! Golf is a great way to keep in touch with friends and catch up with old ones. Golf also helps to build a sense of community connectedness. Perhaps the next neighbor get- together could be a round of golf at The Oaks!

While all those are great, David thinks the biggest benefit of golf is etiquette. Golf teaches all players etiquette and common courtesy.  Young golfers are taught how to be courteous to others, truthful in recording their score and to leave the course the way they found it. If you want to raise your child with proper etiquette you might want to take them for a few rounds on the golf course.
