Animals on The Oaks Golf Course

When you visit The Oaks golf course do you make new friends? I’m not talking about human friends; I am talking about furry friends! The Oaks course has had many animals come visit unsuspecting golfers.

To start out with our pond is stocked with many scaly swimmers. We have many crappie, bass, brim, and even a catfish! We have named the catfish Coco. She is very big and has been with us for so many years that she has her own back-story!

We also have had four-legged visitors too. Deer are often seen prancing around in the trees surrounding the golf course. We have even had a visit from some cows once! One time, a farmer’s cows got loose from his corral and came to pay us a visit. It wasn’t a relaxing day when we found them, but we think they enjoyed the course!

We have also had many feathered friends on the course. Beautiful cranes and blue heron can be seen stretching and strutting around our ponds. You can also watch many birds fly by if you sit on our porch and enjoy a lunch from Putters.

You wont only see flying birds. You will also see killdeer squawking around! Killdeer like to build nests and lay eggs on the sides of the course. If they feel their nest is threatened they lay over the nest and pretend to be dead! They are truly a fun bird to watch. We can’t name all the birds you would see because the list would go on forever, but we can say it would be a relaxing experience.

Have you visited The Oaks golf course and seen animals before? Let us know what you have seen! We might not know all the animals you have seen on the course. Plus we love hearing stories about our visitors!
